This coin is genuine legal tender silver coins issued by the US Mint.
The production of Morgan Silver Dollars was authorized by the Bland-Allison Act aka Act of February 28, 1878. This act authorized a dollar coin composed of 90% Silver and weighing 412.5 grains (a bit more than 0.9 of an ounce) be produced.
The coin was designed by George T Morgan who trained at the Royal Mint in London under the direction of William Wyon.
The coin is composed of 90% Silver and 10% Copper.
