The Soviet T-62 main battle tank, the world's first mass-produced tank with a smoothbore gun and high-level armor, was a successor to the T-55. It featured a 115mm U-5TS gun and was produced in over 20,000 units between 1962 and 1975. The T-62 saw action in numerous conflicts from 1968 to 2017, earning global recognition. Its production continued in North Korea until 1989, and it remains in service in several countries today.
