The eggshell finish on the drawers is created by an artisan using an old-world technique in which he lays, by hand, tiny pieces of eggshell into a unique pattern over a linen foundation. Each piece of the eggshell is meticulously adhered, fitting in like a puzzle piece. The artisan then covers the design with myriad layers of hand-painted lacquer to achieve a smooth finish. The result is a usable piece of artwork.
