The custom Wii U case integrates a game console, GameCube controller adapter, and Wii U power block in one convenient and stylish package. The lid has a large red Super Smash Brothers icon that flips over to reveal slots for a gamepad stand/charger and seven amiibos.
The case is made from a combination of birch and maple plywood. The console's vents are neatly aligned with the handles on the side of the case to provide ample airflow to prevent overheating. Game test results for more than 10 hours in a row showed no noticeable heat gain. GameCube adapters fit snugly on the front to eliminate wires, and as a throwback to the original console, dots are used to indicate controller port numbers. Access to all buttons, ports, slots, fans, etc. on the console remains open.
The case can also be used as a monitor stand. With the Smash logo facing up, it provides a solid base for placing the display on top.
