The JBL CBT 70J-1-WH is a column line array loudspeaker that brings sound with tight control and high output to spaces such as auditoriums, lecture halls, houses of worship, and stadium concourses. A driver array that combines four 5 inch low frequency drivers with sixteen 1 inch soft dome tweeters produces audio that remains clear while staying balanced across a frequency range of 60 Hz to 20 kHz.

JBL Constant Beamwidth Technology shapes the vertical dispersion so listeners near the stage and those at the back hear the same level and tone. A switch on the rear panel lets you choose a 45 or 25 degree vertical pattern, so the same cabinet can serve a medium throw classroom or a long throw sports arena. The asymmetrical profile directs a little more energy toward distant seats, preventing the front rows from feeling overpowered.

When the program changes, select Music mode for a response that stays flat across the full bandwidth or choose Speech mode when spoken word clarity is critical. The speaker handles 500 watts continuous power and up to 2000 watts peak, and the built in SonicGuard circuit shields the high frequency section from overload to keep the show running.

Installation is straightforward. The supplied swivel and tilt wall bracket makes precise aiming easy, and the white enclosure, formed from fiberglass reinforced ABS, blends with light colored walls and ceilings. Once mounted, the slim column keeps sight lines open while its 150 degree horizontal coverage fills the room with fewer speakers.
